Hello, Dear Reader. It’s late morning here in New Hometown, Florida, and it is shaping up to be another summer-like day on this Sunday, October 11, 2020. Outside, the temperature outside is 86˚F (30˚C) under mostly sunny skies. With humidity at 79% and a southwesterly breeze blowing at 10 MPH (16 KM/H), the heat index is 98˚F (37˚C). Per my computer’s weather app, the forecast for my area calls for scattered showers throughout the day.

Today I decided to contribute $10 to Jaime Harrison’s campaign to help the Democratic candidate unseat Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) in the November elections. I obviously don’t live in South Carolina, but I am painfully aware of the importance of this race. Graham, who in 2016 was one of then-candidate Donald Trump’s harshest candidates, is now one of the President’s staunchest supporters. He is definitely not an honorable or respectable Senator, so I am going to do my best to get him out of office along with Trump and his Vice President, Mike Pence via the power of the ballot.

I didn’t send the Harrison campaign a large donation, just $10 and a $1 tip to ActBlue.com. This is my third political contribution, not just in this heated and vital election cycle, but also as in ever in my entire life. I usually limit my political activities to keeping abreast of current events and voting in every election that I’m supposed to participate in – many American men and women have fought and died to ensure that I have this right in a democratic constitutional republic, and I refuse to give that right up by being lazy or apathetic and saying, “My vote won’t make a difference, so why bother voting at all?”

I have already donated twice to the Biden-Harris campaign. Again, my dollar amounts are modest; I’ve sent Joe and Kamala’s campaign a grand total of $41.00 since late September. If I can afford to, I’ll donate again before November 3. But if I can’t, I still feel as if I am doing my bit to get Trump and his enablers out of Washington and saving our American democracy.

As for the rest of my Sunday?

I don’t know what I want to do, really. I was hoping that I’d feel better about things so I could write some fun content, such as a book review or even my opinions of Star Trek: Picard. But no. I don’t feel well enough, emotionally speaking, to relax and write anything in the entertainment category.

I also have no desire to watch any of my movies, listen to any of my classical music albums, or read any of my books. My heart is not in it. Not one bit. Not one damned bit.

What I do feel like doing is getting dressed and going out for a brief walk. Yes, I know, it’s hot. It’s humid. It might rain. But I need to get away from here. Even if it’s for a little while.

On that note, I think I’ll close for now and go get dressed. I’ll probably be back later, so until then, stay safe, stay healthy, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.
