Tyra Banks always covered her butt on the world’s catwalks – because she hated the cellulite on her backside.
The retired model-turned-TV personality has opened up about her biggest insecurity in a new E! News interview, thanking bosses at Victoria’s Secret for working with her at the height of her runway fame.
“When I walked down the Victoria’s Secret runway, I always covered my butt. Always,” she said. “People used to think, ‘Oh, she’s one of the top Angels, that’s why she has a long train or extra’. No, I was covering up my cellulite. Thank you Victoria’s Secret for working with me – they knew why I was doing it.”
And Tyra, who recently confessed to having a nose job early in her modelling career, admits she’d jump at the chance to remove her cellulite for good.
“If there was something to remove cellulite I would totally do it,” she laughed. “It doesn’t exist though… I’ve always had cellulite.”
Meanwhile, the former model hopes her openness about her insecurities in her new book, Perfect is Boring, will help others come to terms with the things they don’t like about their bodies.
“Fix it or flaunt it – I think women should be able to do both,” she recently told People magazine. “There is a boundary line, either you’re super natural or you live at the plastic surgeon. It’s OK to hop back and forth over that line. You want a hair weave? Fine. You want permanent eyebrows? Fine. We as women need to stop judging.”
